The Chinese papers reported that 100 residents from Aljunied GRC had signed a petition calling on the WP town council to be accountable to them, the residents of the town council. However, it turns out that the residents aren't even from Aljunied and are actually from the neighbouring PAP controlled Marine Parade GRC.

The petition had raised that it was concerning that Syliva Lim and Low Thia Khiang had not answered to parliament about the AGO report.

It had also called on the WP town council to show the residents that their funds had not been misused.

According to the Chinese Paper, the petition was signed by 100 residents from Serangoon Avenue 1 and Serangoon Avenue 2:

According to constituency maps of the 2011 boundaries, these two roads actually belong in Marine Parade GRC, a PAP ward lead by Goh Chok Tong.

Even the Community Club located on Serangoon Avenue 2 is under Marine Parade GRC:


Interestingly, the Chinese paper did not verify these facts and printed the article claiming that over 100 Aljunied resident had complained to the WP about the mismanagement of their town council funds.

100 is also a very small number of residents given the size of Aljunied GRC which had 144,442 electors in the last election.

Wrong lah. They are looking at the old boundaries from the last election! The new one will include them in Aljunied.
