Earlier this month, a 6-year-old girl was raped by a Muslim security guard at her school in Lahore, Pakistan.
The girl is from Faisla town B Block and attends a local private school, according to an International Christian Concern (ICC) staffer. Her family and members of the local Christian community said the staff member, named Husnain, sexually assaulted her because of her family’s Christian faith.
When the girl returned home from school that day in late October, her family noticed blood stains on her clothes and bruises on her body. The girl shared what had happened and identified the school’s security guard, Husnain, as the attacker. She said that he had covered her mouth to silence her during the assault.
The girl’s mother and father met with the school’s principal, who initially told them the girl had fallen. When the parents shared what their daughter had told them, the principal threatened them, saying they would face problems if they took any action.
The girl received medical care at a local hospital. Her parents filed a complaint against Husnain at the local police station. Police later arrested him and are investigating the incident.
“This is foul and egregious,” an ICC staffer said. “School is meant to be a safe place for the next generation to learn. Unfortunately, this case has revealed that Christians are still perceived as weak targets who are unlikely to seek justice. ICC is committed to empowering the next generation, and we pray that this little girl receives healing and justice.”
Cases like this are not unheard of in Pakistan, where Muslim men subjugate young Christian girls to dominate religious minorities. Each year in Pakistan, nearly 1,000 girls endure forced conversions to Islam.
