SINGAPORE — The People’s Association (PA) and its grassroots movement said today (March 28) it supports the initiative by grassroots leaders and residents from East Coast GRC to carry the National Flag along the State Funeral Procession route tomorrow.
“Even as we mourn the passing of our founding Prime Minister, carrying the National Flag is a fitting tribute to honour the legacy of Mr Lee Kuan Yew,” a PA statement said.

“Mr Lee had dedicated his whole life to ensuring the future of Singaporeans, and by carrying the flag, we pledge the same commitment to Singapore. At the same time, we demonstrate our confidence in Singapore’s future.”
The PA grassroots movements is encouraging all members of the public who plan to attend the State Funeral Procession to bring along their own flags, and wave them in honour of Mr Lee and Singapore.

Quote:CARRYING FLAG IS LEGAL: LAWRENCE WONG

In a Facebook post on Friday, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong said that he supported such community-driven initiatives, and noted that the laws do not bar people from carrying the Singapore Flag along the State Funeral Procession route on Sunday.

"I read about the plans to fly the Singapore flag on Sunday. I think it's very good to have such ground-up initiatives, and I strongly encourage this spirit of expression to pay tribute to Mr Lee," Mr Wong wrote.
"At the same time, I've received feedback from several members of the public that having flags displayed all over our HDB blocks may not be the right tone for the day of the State Funeral.

"So for those who would like to fly the flag, perhaps one way is to carry them along the funeral procession route on Sunday. This is already allowed under current rules.

"In fact, we’re seeing many different ground-up initiatives – some are wearing black; others white. Some are putting on black ribbons; others white roses. We all express our emotions in different ways. And we all want to say our final farewells to a great man in our own ways. So I encourage Singaporeans to be inclusive and embrace these different actions. Amidst our diversity, let us all come together as one to honour Mr Lee’s spirit and legacy."

Do not abuse the use of national flag.

A flag is used for the country and not for a person.

LKY is not Singapore and Singapore is not about PAP or LKY.

Every country will have a founding father, Singapore is no different.
Unless Singapore can prove that LKY is the greatest founding father in the world.

Too much hype will divide the people and spoil our nation building.
Unless we are a communist country or country run by the army.

See, this is the danger of making a politician to be a idol of worship like a God.

It takes decades or even hundred of years to break such a spell as history shows.

And mistake of such keep on repeating.

stupid papigs........... if allowed at least their grassloot can go round counting the flags & compare to past ND which can get rought idea how much sympathy votes can be converted to real votes for the pigs
