<!-- ****Story IMU ad in content Section >> Begin --><!-- ****Story IMU ad in content Section >> End --><!-- ****Story content Section >> Begin --> An international school has let go of about a third of its kindergarten teaching staff to refresh its ranks with more qualified teachers in the face of growing competition between pre- schools here.

The Overseas Family School in Paterson Road terminated the employment of 14 assistant teachers out of its staff of 45 teachers and assistant teachers earlier this month. The assistant teachers were local residents and held either diplomas or early childhood certificates.

The school, which is under the publicly listed group Overseas Education, is planning to hire better qualified teaching staff, including degree holders.

A spokesman for the school said: "The early childhood market has grown more intense in the past few years, and we wanted to upgrade the profile of our teachers to give us a competitive advantage."

Let me guess - qualified Singaporeans do not like this type of work.

Because Singaporeans are not Jews?

Because Singaporeans are ugly?

But one old Singaporean described Singaporeans too many -

With this in context, lets take a look at some of the things Lee Kuan Yew has said about some people whom he dislikes or has – evidently – utter contempt for.

It is a lesson in meanness.

Lee Kuan Yew has :

- Called the late Mr JB Jeyaretnam a “mangy dog”.

- Called former president Devan Nair an “alcoholic”

- Called James Gomez a “liar and a cheat”

- Called Chee Soon Juan a “psychopath”

- Called Chee Soon Juan a “dud”

- Called Tang Liang Hong a “anti-Christian Chinese chauvinist”

- Called former solicitor-general Francis Seow a “womaniser”

- Called Singaporeans “dogs” – “We had to train adult dogs who even today deliberately urinate in the lifts.”

- Called Singaporeans “daft”

- Compared Singaporeans to animals – “the spurs are not stuck on your hinds. They are part of the herd”

- Called Singaporeans “ignorant”

- Vowed that he will “make him [JB Jeyaretnam] crawl on his bended knees, and beg for mercy.”

- Called Low Thia Khiang “dishonest”

- Called Sylvia Lim “dishonest”

- Said this of author Catherine Lim: “If you think you can hurt me more than I can hurt you, try.”

- Displayed gangster like behaviour towards JB Jeyaretnam: “Everybody knows that in my bag I have a hatchet, and a very sharp one. You take me on, I take my hatchet, we meet in the cul-de-sac.”

- Called Australia “the white trash of Asia”

Let me guess - qualified Singaporeans do not like this type of work.

Parents of the preschoolers must have been shocked to find thier kids picking up the local accent. I am relieved that decisive action has been taken.

What is a school doing in downtown Spore:confused:

This is a pretty big school. I usually see a jam in that corner of town when students arrive or leave. They even have a few policeman to direct traffic.

Thanks to the pap, more "residents" will soon be looking for jobs again. VTO

'Resident' does not mean they are singaporean, izzit? More likely wives of expats or locals.....from India or China. Teaching cuz they are bored and 'my, dont they just love kids'.

Thought the government always said FTS benefits the local? When they open up offices, they create more jobs?

PHUI!

not surprising ...

dey wanna hire staff who can speak n teach in tagalog, putonghua, ahneh language, vietnamese, ...

In before sinkies commend the school cos of the "bad influence" by local teachers like indirectly causing students to pick up the local accent and thereby showcasing the sinkie mentality where sinkies don't actually like sinkies.
