SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore's prime minister said on Friday that the city-state was well prepared to tackle the Wuhan flu virus, adding that it did not appear to be as deadly as the 2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) pandemic.
The Southeast Asian city-state, a global travel hub, on Thursday confirmed its first case of the coronavirus strain, which originated in China, and said another case has preliminarily tested positive.
Singapore suffered 33 deaths due to SARS, making it one of the worst hit countries outside China.
"We are well prepared, because we have been gearing up for such a situation ever since we dealt with SARS in 2003," Lee Hsien Loong said in an annual Chinese New Year speech.

Noticed they used the word "unilateral" in their agreements with other countries? It's one way traffic. Foreigners can come in but sinkies cannot go out.
This is exactly the problem. Singapore cant survive without outside help, Singapore doesnt have enough water, enough food, enough airspace, enough land space. Yet, PAP wants to import foreigners to make Singapore 6.9m or better, 10m. PAP must admit that Singapore is not independent if it doesnt have enough food to feed its own people. Singapore can have the best air force, best navy...but Singapore cant survive if Malaysia, Indonesia and nearby countries dont sell food to Singapore. So PAP must be true and real and not live in imagery towers.

Come on, NZ will recognise travel to sg only when sg has 0 case of virus which are internationally, politically and humanly recognised. You can't blamed that. No one will risk their own citizens and bring back home those nasties. ( i know the pandemic is is way over blown but it pays to be cautious for the govts.)
It is not a wide open travel but more on a cautionary approach. If i want to travel and you have to go through the cautionary process, who wanna travel with that? The opening up is just a political show of welcoming. To really travel, it depends on most people.
