This is hardly an earth shattering discovery. I've been saying the same thing since day one.

Any society which rewards sloth and penalises success is bound to fail.

The PAP knows this. That's why they don't give handouts to the useless bums of society. PAP is the best.

This has been known since well before you and the PAP. No Singaporean argues with this. This isn't New Zealand. What we object to is the Animal Farm that Singapore has become. In fact a re-reading of Orwell's book is chilling. I would bet this text is no longer taught in the few schools that still offer Literature because it hits too close to Home.

Readily agree. Politics will always be dirty. The least we can do is to eliminate concentration of power in a single political party. At least we then have a *chance* to improve the system.

Agreed. The days when the PAP could claim the moral high ground are long gone. This is not a criticism of the PAP. Human nature is like entropy, it will degenerate towards corruption. ( By corruption I do not mean under the table money. That is a stupid form of stealing). The need to buy patronage to stay in power is the driving force. The WP or any other party will face the same , count on it. Singaporeans should simply support amending the constitution to bulld and maintain strong institutions and promote a faith in good values. Pragmatism can be overrated. If ends always justified the means civilization would have disappeared long ago.

but a multi party situation will provide a more plural, fluid and balanced political landscape, prevent amassing N personal enrichment N more important, the discrimination against singaporeans. this is an end that most singaporeans can benefit.
