Hi forum brothers, the below is taken from the TREmeritus website for our discussion here:

We must remember that the mighty PAP is the government. Still 90% plus representation in the current parliament.
They have also been in power for over 50 years.
If we want more Opposition in parliament we simply have to get the Oppos to work collaboratively. Disunity is death!!
SDP, WP, RP, NSP, SDA and all others – time to get together and sort things out as regards fielding candidates for contesting, possible alliances, etc., etc. Do remember: The PAP is the enemy. The betrayer of the people.
The Opposition cannot carry on like this and hope to win more seats. The PAP still has majority support of approximately 60% of the people as per GE2011 result. More wins for the Opposition is certainly possible. Don’t be Your Own Worst Enemy, Opposition parties and Supporters. GE2016 is an excellent chance for winning. Don’t blow it! The government is still on the ropes so strengthen yourselves to deliver the knockdown or even knockout blows come General Election 2016.
United, you’ll thrive, Divided you’ll die!

If we ever want to have a united opposition in Singapore, the first person we should look to set a good example is none other than Mr LTK of the WP. He is the one who is too proud to cooperate with the other opposition parties. He “looks no up” at the other opposition parties. He is the oldest among all the leaders of the various opposition parties. Mr LTK does not know how to be a good elder brother and set a good example. He believes in Chinese/Asian culture but does not practice any humility. I remember last year when the PAP first introduced the National Conversation, all the other opposition parties suggested that the opposition could also conduct an opposition national conversation. The WP refused to have anything to do with it. The WP is so arrogant that they do not want to have any friendliness with the other opposition parties. The WP did not reply to any emails/phone calls from other opposition parties promptly. When LTK did not wish to cooperate with the other party leaders, he did not even have the basic courtesy to reply to the other party leaders DIRECTLY. Instead, Mr LTK announced to the whole wide world during the Punggol East by-election rally that the WP would like to walk alone (whatever that meant!) and said that it was very difficult for the various opposition parties to work together. Why did Mr LTK have to use the election rally stage to make such an announcement about opposition disunity PUBLICLY? Why couldn’t Mr LTK simply pick up the phone and call the other opposition leaders and talk to them PRIVATELY? Of course it is not easy for various parties to work together, but it is not impossible if there is GOOD communication. Like the old saying, when there is a will, there is a way. Mr LTK has to change his attitude towards the other party leaders. If LTK ever becomes the leader of Singapore, HEAVEN FORBID, will he tell Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, S Korea, UK, USA etc., that Singapore wants to walk alone because these other countries are difficult to work with??! A good leader should be able to work with different kinds of people and maintain a good working relationship with others, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
P.S. A gentle reminder to the WP brothers here who do not like the SDP, please do not zap me with red points. As far as I know, I am a very polite person, I do not yell and I am not rude. There is no reason to zap me just because I do not worship the WP like you. Lets be friends and lets learn to get along together agreeably on this tiny red dot and in Sam's forum, regardless of the party we support. Thanks
