Concluded the three-session chess workshop last night. I could see that the kids have been practicing, their games have improved and they're more confident. Will be organising a little tournament for them in the next few weeks. One of the boys made a little thank you card for us. Thank you, Ayaan, it was a joy having you guys around. So glad to see a good number of girls in the group.
Coincidentally, there's a series on Netflix called The Queen's Gambit that is apparently quite a hit. It's about a child prodigy who was orphaned and suffered drug abuse when she was young but overcame the odds to become a grandmaster by beating some of the top players in the world of chess. Chess is enjoying renewed interest around the world. Come mums and dads, introduce your little ones to the game, you won't regret it.
