近日中国出口马来西亚皇家海军的濒海任务舰开工了，此型舰将在中船重工的武昌造船厂建造，首批次为四艘，整个项目为十八艘。
该型舰为濒海任务舰，而不是什么濒海战斗舰，之前很多人都将其称之为濒海战斗舰这是错误的，毕竟从其排水量和战斗力来看，和美国的濒海战斗舰完全不是一回事，说通俗点，其实就是近海巡逻舰。
从首批开工的四艘建造金额来看，四艘建造总金额为2.64亿美元。这价格真的不便宜啊，换算成人民币一艘就要4亿多人民币，对比下中国海军的056轻型护卫舰单艘造价，其实也才6亿多人民币。
此型的濒海任务舰的性能大概如下：总长68.2米，满载排水量约680吨，最大航速22节，续航力2000海里/15节。其搭载的武备也很简单，一座单管30mm炮，两座机枪，舰尾部搭载有两艘快速摩托艇。
从以上的吨位与配置来看，其实这型濒海任务舰和中国海警部队的原海关600吨级海警船的性能几乎一致，但唯独两款舰艇的外形却不一样。这型濒海任务舰的外观反而和中国出口孟加拉国海军的64米长的FAC级导弹艇极为相似，建造方同样也是武昌造船厂。
但她们之间在武备上的差别非常大，FAC级导弹艇，其实其吨位也达到648吨，已经是舰的概念了。其装备有一座单管76mm炮，两座双联装14.5mm机枪和两座双联装C-704型反舰导弹。
