How can we harness digitalisation and artificial intelligence to do better?
At our annual Public Service Conference this week, many public agencies shared how they are embracing the latest AI tools to not just do things better, but also to do better things with our finite resources.
At the Conference, I spoke with close to 2,000 public sector leaders on how we must set the direction, as leaders, to embrace new ways of working. I shared three things we need to create capacity to do, as One Public Service:
1. Understand the world deeply and the external context we are operating in;
2. Continually add value and strengthen our relevance to our people and the world;
3. Partner Singaporeans to understand and advance our national interests.
This is how we can overcome our challenges and take Singapore forward together — not just for Singaporeans, but with Singaporeans.

From Dempsey in the 70s and 80s, to Depot Road in the 90s and 00s, and now the new CMPB at Hillview. The journey of CMPB reflects how NS has evolved.
My own enlistment at Dempsey many years ago was a memorable one. The sights and sounds of that first day were soon overtaken by the lifelong friends I made and soldiering skills I picked up in NS.
While CMPB has relocated over the years, its role remains the same — it’s still where every Singaporean Son’s NS journey begins.
