Celebrated SG60 with our residents at My Buona Vista National Day Dinner last evening.
Beyond the celebrations, I also spoke frankly with our residents. I shared that the real challenge confronting us is not just the global headlines and numbers, but deep uncertainty, a weakening rules-based global order and external influences that threaten to pull us apart.
The road ahead will not be easy, but Singapore stands on firm ground. We have in our favour political stability that enables us to plan long term, and we enjoy continuous investments in infrastructure and our people.
We must stay united, resist division, and always act in our own interests and not anyone else’s. If we stay focused, never complacent, and keep offering value to the world, I remain confident that we will reach SG100, stronger than ever.

NDP participants come from all walks of life, yet share the same dedication to making each NDP a meaningful celebration for Singapore. This year is no different. What really stood out to me when I spoke to them was the energy and pride they put into every rehearsal and performance, and how they support one another as a team.
This National Day, as we enjoy the celebrations, let us also celebrate them – the people who give their all to make NDP special for every Singaporean.

Happy 60th Birthday, Singapore!
I joined colleagues at The Treasury for our National Day Observance Ceremony and celebrations earlier today.
Thank you to all public officers past and present for your dedication and effort to build a vibrant Singapore with opportunities for everyone — many of whom work quietly behind the scenes.
There are many more challenges ahead of us. But I’m confident we will continue to do well if we don’t take our success for granted, and continue to work together to build a better tomorrow!

A The Republic of Singapore Air Force C-130 took off earlier today to deliver the ninth tranche of humanitarian aid comprising medical and food supplies, for Gaza, through Jordan. Grateful for the contributions by Ministry of Health and various Non-Governmental Organisations.
58 defence and military personnel have also been deployed in support of the airdrop operations. Wishing them mission success in the upcoming airdrops and a safe return home.

Happy to meet the Malaysia Minister of Defence, Khaled Nordin during my introductory visit to Malaysia.
The last time I met Minister Khaled was over some kueh – today, we enjoyed some durians!
Minister Khaled and I reaffirmed the warm and longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and Malaysia, and agreed to continue enhancing professional and people-to-people interactions, which will help strengthen the bonds between future generations of our armed forces.
Today, we witnessed the signing of the Arrangement for Mutual Submarine Rescue Support and Cooperation between the Republic of Singapore Navy and Royal Malaysian Navy (Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia). This agreement is a testament to Singapore and Malaysia’s shared commitment to enhancing the safety of our submariners. Beyond bilateral cooperation, we also discussed our good collaboration on multilateral platforms, such as the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-Plus – of which Malaysia is the Chairman this year – and the Five Power Defence Arrangements.
I look forward to continuing this partnership with Malaysia, and thank you to our Malaysian friends for their warm hospitality.

I was pleasantly surprised to meet Recruit Phyllis Ong again during my visit to the Basic Military Training Centre, having first met her earlier this year.
What struck me most about Phyllis is the positive mindset she embodies, which I saw again at BMTC. Even when training gets tough, she always wears a smile and encourages her platoon mates.
Phyllis’ story is a reminder that with the right mindset, even tough challenges can become opportunities for growth. I hope she continues to bring her cheerful spirit to every challenge and grow in her journey as a leader.

Our soldiers from the SAF 1st Commando Battalion and the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) Special Forces Command (KOPASSUS) successfully concluded Exercise Chandrapura (XCP) 2025, which was held in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, for the first time this year.
The participants of XCP conducted an airborne static line jump and a field training exercise on jungle warfare. XCP has grown in scale over many years, and the exercise underscores the strong and long-standing defence relationship between our two countries.
