One lucky sinkie!

SINGAPORE: A Singaporean man, who was trapped under the rubble of a hotel in earthquake-hit Padang in Indonesia's Sumatra island, has reportedly been rescued and taken to a medical centre.

According to CNN journalist Mark Philips, the Singaporean was in the foyer of the hotel when the quake struck the city on Wednesday. A video on CNN's website showed the journalist talking to the man.

According to the report, the man was trapped for nearly 24 hours. He told the journalist to call his two daughters in Singapore.

Earlier, Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry said it was trying to ascertain with the Indonesian authorities if the Singaporean was trapped in the rubble of Hotel Mariani.

He is lucky because he survived a collapse building, not because the gahment cares. He is better of recupertaing in Indonesia where medical costs is cheaper.

The only reason the Spore gov't comes into the story is because CNN interviewed the trapped Spore on international TV. I was watching when Mr. Lee was being interviewed.

PM Lee is so grateful that an ordinary Sg life has been saved that he has decided to dispatch two Hercules transport planes loaded with relief aids and a contingent of SCDF rescue team to save more ordinary Indonesian lives.

PM Lee is just doing his PR routine to save his face. Every time a disaster occur in the region, its normal routine to dispatch aid and assistance to the country. It became so routine already.

This man , John Lee is just lucky to survive.

If a normal Singaporean was caught in the middle of a terrorist incident. Does anyone think PM Lee will bother to send his band of SOF troops to aid the situation.
