One Key Question

But as we discussed before, they won't do it because the present system suits them.
You said before that if they wanted the population's wishes to be reflected, they should change the system.
But that's not what they want. What they want is to maintain power and all that comes with it, and have as high a % of mps in parliament as possible.
So the question is then "What next?"

It sort of annoy me when our oppositions talk about abolition of GRC ( PAP won't do that either ) but nobody are interested in PR for a fairer electoral system reform.

yes, accept majority choices but I think we must respect the minority ( 33% ) by having some sort of proportional representation alongside plurality elections NOT NCMP and NMP.

unlikely to happen next GE but not impossible - our oppositions lose Hougang and Potong Pasir narrowly with 48% votes. oppositions got 40%-45% in a few GRC. As a whole, oppositions votes increase to 40% but they now have zero seats in Parliament. How do one analysis this election result? The end of oppositions in Singapore despite having a combined 40% peasants mandate.

It's not a matter of choice, but when you are faced with a decision to either vote Chee Soon Juan or PAP, even if you don't wish to vote for PAP, you wouldn't want to give CSJ a vote at all:o

I think the opposition community in singapore must be united. They must be united as 1 opposition to wage against PAP. Just look at the political section of this forum alone and we can see how different opposition parties have different ideas.

If only they can be united. That's why PAP don't fear the opposition. :o

But why is it that a large number of people who are ordinary, low-income, not-so-rich, trying hard to make ends meet, even struggling singaporeans, also support the pap?

It is because of their current status, they can't afford internet subscription and will grab everything that comes free, I mean not just those once in 5 years carrot, but newspapers that were distrbuted freely in the morning and afternoon rush hours. Those free papers were addictive toxic that washed their minds and made them DAFT. Otherwsie LKY won't be calling them DAFT. Those uncles, aunties have nothing better to do at home, so they just watch TV. As we all know every half hours, be it Ch 5,8, U, CNA...pap news were reported 24/7, 365 days for 50 years. YOu can safely say, the old folks are beyond "repair" supporters of PAP. Similar, Shit Times was no better, they were wrapped up nicely with advertisement but when you unveiled the news, they were full of craps. Just like a nicely wrap up present with pap shits inside. That is why PAP do not want opposition parties to follow the same method of disseminating news. They have NEA to intimidate you if they smell competition. GMS knows best.
