Many switched to vaping because of the high cigarette prices in Singapore.

By and large, vaping is healthier than smoking because it contains no tar. It doesn't stink as much too. Unlike many countries, Singapore don't approved vapes for retail sales because we do not want to lose the tax receipts from cigarette sales. Eg. in South Korea, only approved vapes are sold by reputable brands in their retail stores. They test and report the contents in the vapes.

In our illegal scene, to get repeat customers, unlicensed vape sellers begins to add synthetic drugs which costs less than $10 a litre after dilution. Then customers will return to buy from them because of the extra "kick" and "high".

Weed is also very popular now in our night spots and university dorms. Weed is pretty much like the early days of vaping now. Due to their soaring popularity with expats and students, police has a very long checklist to adhere and will try not to arrest anyone unless they are peddlers or cause harm to others. Soon, weed sellers will add other synthetic drugs to their weeds to get repeat customers.
