Well put. The COI to be conducted by Ong Ye Kung is a waste of time.
First of all Mr Ong is not independent being a PAP candidate (albeit unsuccessful) in the Aljunied GRC recently. Next, as Mr Ong is a member of the SMRT Board who appointed the Malaysian woman CEO, can we expect him to investigate why and how he himself, together with his own colleagues, chose to appoint a CEO who knows nothing about nuts and bolts to run our train system? Does Mr Ong expect the junior officers of SMRT to say anything bad about their CEO in front of the CEO who will continue to be their boss after the investigation? This is wayang that has developed into a fine art. If Mr Ong wants credibility he has first to suspend, if not remove, the existing CEO in order for the junior officers to speak out fearlessly.
