21-year-old dies after running Standard Chartered marathon

A 21-year-old man collapsed at the finish line of the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore.

The man had run the half-marathon on Sunday morning.

He was rushed to the Singapore General Hospital where he died at around 9.30am.

When you are 20... you tell yourself "push as hard as you can".
When you are 40... you say "relax, take it easy, don't push yourself too hard".
The old wisdom of pushing yourself beyond your limit does not apply to softee sinkies or sinkified FTs... better take it easy

The man had run the half-marathon on Sunday morning.

Luckily he didn't run the full marathon or he would have ended up twice as dead!

HE WAS a seasoned runner who used to train every night when he served his National Service (NS) as a reconnaisance commander.

But at about 8.30am yesterday, Malcom Sng, 22, collapsed at the finish line of the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore at the Padang.

The organisers said in a media statement that he was immediately attended to and evacuated to the Singapore General Hospital, where he died an hour later.

The New Paper spoke to Mr Sng's NS buddies, who said they were "shocked" that he had died after completing the half-marathon because he was very fit.

He will still die at half way mark, for he was, halfway there!, unless he got up, complete the full distance & die there, "you only twice"?

The deceased aged one year, since he passes on, yestereday news it was 21 year old, today, it is , 22 year old!!
