PRETTY Chinese student Ting Fang was seduced into making big money as a sex worker but was brutally killed in an Adelaide hotel on New Year’s Day 2015.

A man who murdered a Sydney sex worker in an Adelaide hotel by beating her with her stiletto and slashing her throat with a razor blade has been jailed for at least 25 years.
Ting Fang was murdered in a Hindley Street hotel room in the early hours of New Year's Day last year.
The Supreme Court heard she had travelled from Sydney to Adelaide to work for an escort agency.
A jury found 29-year-old Chungaung Piao guilty of her murder.
The court heard Piao used one of Ms Fang's stilettos to strike her head and also slashed her throat with a razor blade.
Justice David Lovell described the murder as senseless.
"This was a vicious and senseless crime," he said.
"A young lady who did you no harm was senselessly murdered."
Justice Lovell said Piao's actions, including his refusal to put submissions to the court during his pre-sentencing hearing and his refusal to accept the jury's verdict, demonstrated a lack of remorse.
"You have shown no contrition or remorse for your actions and you clearly told a number of lies to police during the course of interviews," he said.
Justice Lovell said although the motive for the murder may never be known, he found it likely it was part of a robbery as Piao had taken money from his victim.
The court heard Piao did not have enough money to pay Ms Fang and his bank accounts were overdrawn.
Ting Fang's brother

"At the time you committed the murder it appears you were increasingly desperate for money," Justice Lovell said.
"Although I do accept that there is no evidence the crime you committed was premeditated.
"The murder was opportunistic and brutal."
Piao stared at the floor during the hearing as he was given a life sentence with a non-parole period of 25 years.
Ms Fang's brother flew from Sydney to attend the sentencing hearing and watched from the public gallery.
The court heard no victim impact statement was provided from Ms Fang's family because they found it too hard to put their loss into words.
Piao is appealing against his conviction.

The body of Ms Fang, 25, was found in the Hotel Grand Chancellor on Hindley Street early on New Year's Day last year.
Water had flooded from her room into a corridor and a room on the floor below.
After five hours of deliberation, a South Australian Supreme Court jury unanimously found Chinese national Chungaung Piao, 28, guilty of Ms Fang's murder.
Piao showed no emotion as the verdict was handed down in court.
During the trial, the court heard Piao was Ms Fang's last client and was seen on security footage leaving the hotel about 12:30am.
It heard a razor blade used in the murder that was found at the scene matched blades found in Piao's work van.

Impotent man who stabbed a sex worker with a stiletto then slashed her throat with a razor 'may have killed her over money or sexual humiliation'

  • Chungaung Piao is convicted of murdering Ting Fang in Adelaide in 2015
  • Court heard he beat her with a stiletto and slashed her throat with a razor
  • The father told his lawyer not to reveal his personal circumstances
  • He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on August 5
An impotent man found guilty of bludgeoning a sex worker with stiletto then slashing her throat is keeping his lips sealed on his motivation for the heinous killing.
Chungaung Piao, 28, was convicted in June of murdering Sydney prostitute Ting Fang while she was working in a hotel in Adelaide's CBD, on New Year's Day 2015.
The married father has this week lodged an appeal against his conviction and told his lawyer not to reveal his personal circumstances, reports Adelaide Now.

Mr Piao's lawyer, Defence lawyer Greg Mead, told Adelaide Supreme Court he was specifically instructed not to make any sentencing submissions.

'I'm in a position where I'm not able to say anything to Your Honour other than what came out at trial about my client.'
Prosecutor Tim Preston said only basis the court's had in sentencing was his strong intention to kill and the victim was in a vulnerable position.

'We cannot say what that should be ... his motivation might have been something to do with money or something to do with sexual humiliation,' he said.
The jury in South Australia's Supreme Court took five hours to unanimously decide Mr Piao had used Ms Fang's stiletto and a cleaning razor to murder her.
Throughout the case, the jury heard evidence that the married father's thumb print was found on the bottom of the shoe used to hit the woman in the head, and the razor used to slice the sex-worker's throat matched a packet Piao had purchased for his cleaning business.

Jurors also heard that Ms Fang happily agreed to an extended overnight booking with Piao and texted her minder to say she was tired and would be able to earn a night's wages without having sex, as the 28-year-old man was impotent.
Jurors were also told that Piao was being threatened over a $3000 debt when he booked an appointment with Ms Fang at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Adelaide.
His bank accounts were also allegedly empty or overdrawn at the time, meaning he would not have been able to pay for the booking.
Ms Fang's lifeless body was found with two V-shaped lacerations on her scalp and a 13cm, deep wound on her throat caused by two separate slashing motions.

Piao has denied the charges since his arrest, and his counsel argued someone else was responsible for the young woman's death.
State law suggests he will face a mandatory life sentence and a non-parole term of at least 20 years.

If more Tiongs would do that to their own, we can have a nicer world in no time at all.

In fact, killing Tiongs isn't really murder or manslaughter... think of it as similar to putting dogs to sleep, running over a wild animal while driving, or spraying insecticide on pests. Subhuman trash, all of them.
