Singaporean man missing in Hawaii

SINGAPORE : Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and its Consulate-General in San Francisco said they are aware of the case involving a Singaporean man who is missing in Hawaii.

SINGAPORE : Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and its Consulate-General in San Francisco said they are aware of the case involving a Singaporean man who is missing in Hawaii.

An MFA spokesperson added that they are in touch with the family to render consular assistance.

According to media reports, Hawaiian authorities are continuing the search for 62-year-old Phua Chuan Chin, who was swept off the rocks on Kauai's north shore on Monday.

The Kauai Fire Department said Mr Phua and three other people were walking along a rocky shoreline when a large wave hit.

Mr Phua and another man were swept into the water. The other man swam to the rocks and was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

The Fire Department said the incident happened in a remote location when a high surf advisory was in effect.
