To summarize:

Iran will be absent as it wants no part of a production freeze
Saudis have confirmed no production freeze unless Iran also freezes
A gentleman-like agreement to cap production until October (or another 5 months of headline-driven algo stop hunts higher) at what are already record production levels for the top oil producing nations.
No enforcement mechanism.
We fully expect the algos to fall for it again, especially with an early momentum jolt higher courtesy of 1 or 2 central banks.

Nuclear is the way to go. Unless there is a massive production of Thorium reactors, oil would be safe. Most "plastics" including your car tyre is made from oil as well. So its not only an "energy" resource.

The oil market is trading based on rumours. Oil went up by 5 percent because of rumours that the oil ministers would arrive at a deal. On Friday, rumours say it won't be done ...down by 4 percent.
I go contrarian to expectation.

Saudis are just happy to cap at current level ...they want to kill the American shale and stop more Canadian oil sands investments.
 
I think another sage said the same thing but in a different way ........ like the stock market had predicted ten of the previous five recessions ......... I suppose the same applies to predictions of economic boom .........

As a consumer I'm happy that the PAP gov't won't have an excuse to increase bus fares & electricity rates.
 
what a day! wti crashed in the asian market and ended up higher in the european and us market. i see oil price slipping again today.


but i am not sure if fed will bring in the cards to hike rate in april or june???
