i can't imagine i would be one of the stranded victims in another train breakdown. this time it was at queenstown station.
sunday nite. was rushing to meet a pal for a movie at tiong baru plaza. and it happened! was waiting at the platform. as usual the train arrived. all passengers alighted the train. being a blurcock, i boarded only to hear the announcement: TRAIN SERVICE TERMINATED AT QUEENSTOWN STATION....
i alighted and continued to wait at platform. another train soon pulled in. another massive crowd vacated the train. then annoucement again: THERE WILL BE NOT TRAIN SERVICE FROM QUEENSTOWN TO OUTRAM STATION...
the alighted commuters all proceed to the exit while those who were waiting at the platform were all confused and lost at what to do. then annother annoucement from the station was broadcast: ALL PASSENGERS PLEASE EXIT THE STATION ....
hell!! how could this be happening especially when i was late for an appointment? many face the same predicament. helplessly everyone left the station and proceed to the bus stops. there were buses waiting there. i boarded one of the bus #195 with a PRC driver who kept telling commuters 不用大卡 or no need to tap card. (he was thinking everyone understood chinese. what a joke!!)
when i asked him in mandarin whether the bus would go to tiong baru plaza. he answered "yes". but in the end, he drove everyone along alexandra road towards depot road direction.
hell again!! it wasn't the route to tiong baru. i was really pissed and told the driver that this wasn't the route to tiong baru. at the bus stop opposite alexandra hospital, i told the driver i wanna alight cos already very late for appointment. a few commuters realising how clueless the PRC driver was followed to alight.
finally, crossed over the road and boarded bus 33. along the way, passed by redhill mrt station. there was ambulance and police cars like some big happenings there.
today the ST reported that there was a dead body on the track which really puzzled me. how could there be when SMRT already built barriers at the waiting platform?
my personal opinion for SMRT is now getting from bad to worser. i do not think that if there were to be serious emergency, they wouldn't able to handle it. their logistics were terrible. people were left stranded, clueless and confused. their back up - bus services were just as messy!
to top it all, i still got "charged" for a short journey from queenstown to tiong baru which took almost an hour to reach. my god!! some first class transport they aren't ashamed to brag :(
