Dancing their way into the Guinness World Records
By Anglo Chinese School (Independent)

They literally jigged and danced their way - Bollywood style - into the Guinness World Records.

In a show of camaraderie, 1082 students and teachers from the Anglo Chinese School (Independent) (ACS(I)) smashed the record for the most number of people performing the Bollywood Dance.

The previous record of 314 people was held by a group in the UK.

Held on April 29 at ACS(I)'s school field, the mass event was one that was entirely initiated and managed by the students.

The original dance steps were choreographed by a few students and dance rehearsals were held two weeks prior to the school's attempt.

School spirit

Despite the heat and humidity, the participants still turned out in full force on the day of the event, bursting with enthusiasm and eager anticipation.

Many parents, teachers, and friends who were not from ACS(I) were present to witness the record-breaking event.

Professional Bollywood dance instructor, Almark Pantilag, 30, was also at hand to certify that the student-choreographed dance truly belonged to its genre.

He said: "I can definitely confirm that all the steps were Bollywood steps. I am amazed at the turnout and that the dance was choreographed by a group of students."

Apart from bringing glory to the school, the dance also taught the students the value of teamwork.

Said Rishav Rakshit, 17, one of the cheoreographers: "It was heartfelt to see over a thousand people of all ages, races, shapes and sizes coming together in an unified effort."

Although the participants came from different cultural backgrounds, it did not stop them from enjoying the whole experience.

"It was very fun! I got to learn a new dance and expose myself to a new culture", said Li Ming Lei, 19, a Chinese scholar.

Vietnamese scholar Tran Binh Nguyen, 19, agreed: "(It is) a good bonding experience for the students. It definitely shows the unity and cultural diversity in my school."

Although the record has yet to be verified by Guinness, the school's attempt has been confirmed by the Singapore Book of Records and witnessed by its president, Mr. Ong Eng Huat.

No other records to break meh?

So many dark fucks polluting the Chinese-English institution of pre-university learning and then leading them to do a dance like this?

What a development.
