The main reason I dislike pap is the way they talk to the people.

I was fortunate (some may say unfortunate) to catch a press conference chaired by LHL on nomination day. When a brave reporter tried to ask for more details about Steve Tan's last minute withdrawal, he nearly threw a tantrum at her.
When someone asked how he was going to allocate resources to contest 82 seats, he happily gave some answer.

Just recently, his father said that Aljunied voters would have to repent for 5 years if they voted for WP, followed by some other threats. Although I'm not a resident of Aljunied, I don't accept leaders threatening the people. He has been a major figure in building the country and for that we accord him due respect, but respect has to be continually earned.

You can get people to do what you want or get people to not do what you don't want by issuing threats, only if people are filled with desires and fears. Don't know about others in this forum or in Aljunied or in the whole of S'pore, but I have little fear or desire.

He will say that I am insane, because everybody has desires and fears.
My reply will be very simple. "I am not insane. I just don't like you." :D

I'm with you. The PAP have been threatening votes all their lives and rule by fear. They forget that citizens are more educated now and can see for themselves what are truths and what are propaganda. Unfortunately, many educated folks still are fearful of voting against PAP as somehow they still think their vote is not secret.

More than just asking for change, Oppo rallies must always spend a portion of their rally time to reiterate this point to voters - that their vote is secret. As many are in agreement with what the Opposition have to offer but are still fearful of voting against the PAP. Sylvia Lim of WP did that at the Bedok Rally did that last night and hopefully all Oppos do the same.

If voters are reluctant to vote opposition because of the fear that voting is not secret, this is a figurative slap in the face for the pap and their frequent boasts about how valuable they are and how successful the country is.
Anybody can rule through fear of repercussions. That's how triads and mafia rule and get what they want.
It would be more acceptable to me if the pap has 60% of the votes locked up by making 60% happy and contented and let the other 40% rot and grumble.
You can at least give them credit for being calculative and making sure they have the numbers.

For me personally, fear tactics don't work anymore. Please take the next step. Bring it on.
