Only stupid people like Chee Soon Juan do protest in Singapore. If you have trouble better spend your time to solve your trouble. Chee should spend his time to make money for his family.

What is the use of protest? Shout noise in the air? Stay at home to watch TV is better. Go shopping is better. There is no way for Singaporeans to change the world just accept it. In the end just die and go away why bother about the future generation. If got money emigrate to better place why try to change the govt and Singapore. If your fellow Singaporeans suffer, you can still carry on to enjoy your own life learn to look the other way. Just like the 19 passerby in China who let the child bleed to death, what do they gain by stopping to help the child...nothing. We all learn to be like that because the police will arrest us if we stand up to say the govt is not taking care of the poor, old and sick. We will be jailed if we Occupy Raffeles place to say the banksters make too much because it will imply our leaders make too much. ..by implication we are saying workers make too little and by interpretation we are instigating the masses and destabilising society....so slience is best.

Actually the 19th passerby did stop and tended to the girl. She was awarded 10k RMB.

Celebrities to help SDP raise funds

Singapore's very own celebrities are helping the Singapore Democrats raise funds. Filmmaker Glen Goei as well as actors Lim Kay Siu and Neo Swee Lin will make an appearance at the public screening of the hit movie The Blue Mansion.

The movie, directed by Mr Goei, was released in 2009. It revolves around a wealthy patriach who dies suddenly. His ghost returns to discover the cause of his death only to find his three grown-up children squabbling over his estate, among other quirky developments. Read reviews here.

Written by former Straits Times political reporter Mr Ken Kwek, The Blue Mansion is described as "classy" and its production "top-notch". It won Best Film in Singapore's Entertianment awards in 2010 and Mr Goei was Best Director.

The movie was the Opening Film at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival. It was also chosen for screening at film festivals from Tokyo to Shanghai to Hawaii.

This event will help raise funds for the Democrats as we continue our push for political change in Singapore. Work for the next elections has already started in earnest and we need funds to spread our message of change

Fans will be able to get up close and personal with Mr Goei as he will be taking questions following the screening of the movie. Mr Lim and Ms Neo will also be on hand for a discussion about the movie - and beyond. Is there an underlying message that the movie tries to convey? Did the Media Development Authority insist on cuts to the original script? Will the movie industry in Singapore produce films that are political in nature in the future?

It's your chance to ask Mr Goei and the cast their views on these and other matters.

Tickets are available from $50 and will include a reception with the celebrities, photo-ops, and the Q&A session.

I dont think CSJ was a stupid person..He was telling everyone to grow some balls and make a stand on the streets rather then keeping in silent or yapping on the keyboard.

No, protesting is not stupid. However, protesting against something that is irrelevant to us is.
