I had a patient tell me today that she complained to the RCMP and various agencies that this virus is a hoax.
She says that if you ask people whether they personally know anyone who got covid19 you will be hard pressed to find someone say yes.
For a "pandemic" she says this is ridiculous and does not meet the definition of a pandemic!
I told her that the virus is real. But the response to the virus that society has given is a bit over the top particularly when the death rate is so low.
Objectively, the death rate IS LOW.

That was what this whole lockdown was for correct?
With time, I think people are realizing that "flattening the curve" is like trying to fill your flimsy very very thing paper cup with water from a dripping tap. Enough of this!

So beef up the hospitals and the healthcare system. Pump money into it. Hire more people to perform duties that you don't need doctors to do!
I will give you examples of things doctors have to do that takes up TIME which really there is no need for the doctor to have to do themselves:
a big one is CHARTING or DOCUMENTATION ie writing notes about what the patient has, what was explained, what was done, what was found on examination, what the patient said, what the doctor said, what was ordered, what treatment was given, risks of procedures explained.........ALL THIS STUFF that no patient ever wants to pay for (if you go by value stream analysis) and yet is so important for doctors because we need it to protect everyone if there is an investigation and what not.
Hire scribes to shadow doctors. have them take down the notes. Like the apostles following Jesus and recording everything that was said and done. Let the scribes do the paper work.
And then all those FORMS......yes all those discharge form, authorization form, admission forms, what not stupid crazy FORMS!!!!! Have someone else fill those out.
Doctors have way too much paper work nowadays.
There are many things that can be done to let the doctors be able to spend more of their time doing DOCTORING!!!! rather than all this admin shit.
The healthcare system if beefed up can take a bigger surge of patients and not be overwhelmed.
Whichever country masters this will be able to send their workers back to work and get the economy back on track.
When the lockdown ends, there will be waves and waves till everyone has the virus. This is a certainty. So the time to beef up is NOW. Unless you wan the lockdown to last for 5 years. Good luck to your economy.
