Is there any better condemnation of the PAP's medal buying scheme than the performance of New Zealand in the Olympics? 2 countries with roughly the same population, one has 3 times as many medals and all from native New Zealanders. Whereas, Singapore has yet to win a medal unless u consider the PRC mercenary as a true singaporean. Someone forgot to tell the PAP it doesn't work. If they were serious about a medal, they should not have wasted the $600 million on YOG and instead spend it on identifying, and developing real sports talents. I am sure we would have won some medals within 1 or 2 more Olympics if $600 million were spend towards this end.

With 600 million, peesai can have sports tryouts for every sports there is for the entire population for god damn many years. The movie "invinsible" which stared Mark Walberg is a good example. I'm pretty sure there are alot sinkees out there who are good at sports but dont have the money to persue it.

You are partially right about the parents reaction and they have a valid reason for it.
In the past if Sinkies pursue sports they are practically on their own. There is no support system for the athlete during their active years and after. No proper sports management (most are MIWs cronies or have to be), coaches, facilities etc. and after their sporting years there is no sporting culture to support their employment.
Now at least they have sports school.

NZ has a sporting culture. After a sporting career is over, ex sportsmen become coaches, personal trainers, sports presenters and so on.

Singapore has a culture where academic excellence is the only thing that matters. You can't blame the government for that. It's part of the Chinese psyche passed down from generation to generation. The Indians are similar. The rate lawyers and doctors way above sportsmen. It is every Indian mother's dream to have a son who is a successful professional and the dowry system acknowledges their value.

In NZ, a plumber, a sportsman or a sparky is ranked higher than a lawyer or politician by most kiwis. Tradespeople are considered to be essential and respectable members of society.

The policies they presented at every election were geared towards material reward in return for the vote and the electorate have taken the bait every single time.

I've always maintained that the govt and the electorate deserve each other. I have yet to see evidence that will make me change my mind.

That is not actually the case. All the medals won so far are by white Kiwi immigrant stock known as "pakeha" by the natives.
