I have told this story before long time ago in this forum. A Malaysian young boy from Perak was admitted to the architecture programme in NUS. He did not do well and failed his first year. Well meaning "crusaders" from NUS approached this vulnerable chap at the most vulnerable moment and "saved" him. He continued to struggle and these crusaders also found him accommodation at their Christian Compound at Pandan Gardens.
He failed his second and final attempt despite praying to god. He walked across to Jurong Country Club one night and
hanged himself from a tree, His body was found the next morning.
The father a retired field force police officer who fought the communists in the jungles of Malaysia took the night bus to identify his body in the
mortuary the next morning. They were poor and one of the undertakers
agreed to cover the expense. No one else turned up at the mortuary.
It was one of the saddest story I heard. I met the father briefly and I could see that his entire dream vanished with his son.
Architecture unlikes the other sciences requires some aptitude. It was
not God that delivers the result its the DNA in the main. If he was not
walking the corridors of NUS in despair, some secular soul would have
told him to consider something else.
I have no issues if people want to believe what they want to believe but when they bring along the vulnerable, the gullible, the blurfucks and downtrodden to the abyss and then walk away thinking it was fate and the god's work, I get mad and I mean really mad.
