At the National Day Rally last year, PM Lee said his govt would put Singaporeans first.

It made my blood boil when I read in today’s ST (9 July 2012) that NTUC will subsidize 90% of driving course fees for Singaporeans and PERMANENT RESIDENTS. Not only that, NTUC will “place them in driving jobs”.

What insane mind came up with this scheme? Why are foreigners given PR status when they are jobless? And why help them to get jobs? Don’t they know that charity begins at home? We have droves Singaporeans out of work.

The NTUC says that drivers with a class 3 licence can earn $1,300 to $1,500? a month while a class 4 licence will earn him $2,200 to $2,500 a month.

NTUC further says “not all job seekers can afford to get an appropriate driving licence to take up such jobs”. There are countless Singaporeans earning below $1,000 a month or jobless who will jump at a chance to learn to drive for “free” and get a job that will earn him $1,300 or more a month.

Offer this programme to Singaporeans first, and if there are still no Singaporean takers, then, and only then, offer it to PRs. But it still begs the question: why allow foreigners to enter Singapore when they are unemployed and then give them PRs and spend Singaporean tax payers money to train and find a job for them?

Editor’s note: This was announced by PM Lee at the National Day Rally in Aug last year:
PM Lee unveils new ‘Singaporeans-first’ policies
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/singaporescene/gov-t-puts-poreans-first-pm-lee-175645736.html
In his 90-minute National Day Rally speech in English at the University Cultural Centre, he said while Singaporeans understand the logic of the foreign talent policy, they still feel the emotional impact.
“These are policies where the benefits are there but they are long term, the downsides are immediate, the side effects are visible, people react to them and we have to respond to this.”
“I empathise with this. And we are acting to relieve the pressures and make clear we are putting Singaporeans first,” he stressed.

I still dont understand why the PM and his team keep saying our economy is dependent on importing FT. Massive immigration=sustain/better economy? Really? Isnt this a dumb strategy?
A lot of Taxi drivers are making good money from driving, ever since various hikes proposed by NTUC and Taxi companies.
I sat in many taxis and they usually say this trade is protected from FT. And now the signs are showing…
It would be a matter of time, taxi companies will allow FT to drive in order to push profits up by increasing the rental sky. FT will not complain, they are willing to sacrifice for lower take in pay.
Who will have the last laugh? The government and taxi companies. And why? Because 60% are daft and complacent, they really think Singaporeans first policy is real. ha ha ha

is taking up such issues in or outside Parlament akin to ‘OPPOSITION FOR OPPOSITION SAKE’???
oh come on,SUCH ISSUES OUGHT TO BE DEBATED AND EVEN OPPOSED!!!
SINGAPOREANS FIRST must be the proper order of things here,it must!

Fuckin bastard Pappy Scums..

Why the need to subsidize the driving courses of these FTs?

This offer should only go to Sporeans..

Fuck these NTUC cunts.. Most of the PRs already obtained driving licenses back in their native countries before comin to Spore.. Their driving tests are also not stringent and strict enough.. in the cases of these Pinoys, some of them may have even obtained fake driving licenses on the streets of Manila..

Fuck You PAP, Fuck You Zorro Lim, Fuck You NTUC!!! :oIo:  :oIo:

singaporean go for driving course got subsidize 90% anot ?

MIW very generous hor....to others.

Need so many drivers for fuck ? Our roads not congested enough ?

More drivers will surpress the salary mah.

Why don't they identify potential bus drivers from the various NS co-horts, offer them driver vocation and then viola, problem will be partly solved.
We will get tons of 3-tonner drivers available in less than two years - drivers who know their way around and can communicate with commuters.

As far as I can see, Singaporeans missed the boat in not grasping the opportunity to throw out the PAP in 2011.

By the time 2016 comes along, the number of new citizens will have reached the level where they will be able to influence the outcome of the elections in favour of the PAP.

The only hope will be if 100% of native Singaporeans vote against the PAP... something which is extremely unlikely given the sinkie psyche of fearing the unknown.

By 2021, new citizens will be the majority and native sinkies will be close to extinction.

Datuk Leong in May 2011 I was thinking like that, and now am wondering at that time we did transmit any brain waves or not?
At that time I wish for at least 2 GRCs, and at lease 3 single seats going into oppo hands inorder to whack the PAP enough to fall from their seats, warmed enough for 40 years.
My wish raptured into the night sky when I last heard Yam Ah Mee. That opportunity would have be our mini Arab Spring, just a small seed will do.
But ffcck Sinkies as usual, cannot abdandon PAP less even talk of slapping them (the PAP).
2011 erection WAS THE damn best chance already. NOW the PAP is smart going into 2016, 2011 equip them with very very VALUABLE lesons and ammo.

looks like NTUC has too much money in their hands.
all the Union membership fees paid by the locals will be given to subsidise non-locals ??
NTUC is very rich - unions, insurance, supermarket, property etc .. wonder where all the money go to ?
why cant they put it in to help more singaporeans esp the aged and those who need help care ..
