The MPs from the wards in Little India are pushing for even tougher measures in response to the Ministry of Home Affairs' (MHA) proposal to implement alcohol-free zones in the area.
And they have the support of shopowners in the affected area, who just a year ago were dead set against any such law.
MHA is seeking public views on two proposed rules: banning alcohol consumption in common areas like void decks and pavements, and limiting the hours during which stores can sell alcohol.
In recent years, MPs and residents have raised concerns about the problems of public drinking.

Was wondering which MP was in charge of that area. I guess lightning does strike twice, ponding & now this :)

Even you ban alcohol in that area they can still buy from elsewhere lah.......these ah neh can dun eat but cannot live without alcohol  :D

Now the Ah Nehs will riot while being sober.

Ah nehs + alcohol = riot

Ah nehs - alcohol = loitering around HDB flats to find things to do

How to enforce such bans??

All INDIANS must produce proof of identity & record their particulars & is only entitle to one CAN OF TIGER BEER 330ml, no sale of "Knockout", "STRONG" or any other beers not sanctioned by the Town Council of that area. Like in the past, where they can only drink from the official TODDY shop...they can only buy beers from Official Beer Shop...better still, One plastic cup per INDIAN...

Religious occasions, 2 cups or two cans....

We are blessed that the rioting did not extend to the MRT Stations in the locality or to Serangoon Plaza where MUSTAPHA is or City Square...now you wonder, if it is safe to shop there??

It is only safe when there are no ah nehs. lol

Great. Just what we need. Hordes of sex deprived frustrated males all in one place deprived of their one affordable means of escape from their hideous existence.

not possible to ban everywhere. they can always simply go to another nearby location. problems still exist.

Teo Chee Hean should be ashamed of himself. Allow so many police and SCDF vehicles and personnel to be hurt.
