STOMPer Shopaholic went shopping for mooncakes both here in Singapore and over the Causeway. The difference in presentation, he says, speaks volumes about the service standards between the two countries.
He explains his views:
"When I went to West Mall to buy two mooncakes, the salesgirl simply put them in a plastic bag and handed them over to me after collecting my payment.
"When I went to Jusco in Johor to buy two mooncakes, the salesgirl was very polite and put them in a beautiful box before handing them over to me.
"This is the standard of Malaysian service even for the sale of simple items like mooncakes.
"Our sales service and packaging has a long way to go to catch up with that of the Malaysians."
