No Singlish but S'pore is home
By June Cheong

ENGINEER Shi De Gang hails from Sichuan, but he calls Singapore home.

The 39-year-old became a Singapore citizen in 2005 as he felt appreciated at work and that he could raise his family here.

The father of two said, 'I can have a simple life here. I work hard, go home and teach my kids their homework and I can have dinner with my family. Public transport here is convenient. As long as you integrate into local society, you'll find that Singaporeans are very warm and friendly."

Mr Shi is not the only recent immigrant who has become part of the Singapore story.

In his National Day Rally speech on Sunday, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong cited many examples of immigrants whom Singaporeans have warmed to, like bus driver Zhang Xiaodong on SBS service 109 who was missed by commuters when she went on leave.

Find out how Mr Shi and his family fit into their local neighbourhood on RazorTV. >> click on link
