No licence to run nanny placement business, woman gets $2,000 fine

She saw the business potential in matching nannies to parents who needed help caring for their young children.

So she registered her company’s name, set up a website, got a network of clients and even drew up terms and conditions for them.

The only problem was she didn’t have a licence to run the business.

And for that, Shela Low Sze Lee, 29, was slapped with a $2,000 fine.

She pleaded guilty last Thursday to a charge of carrying on an employment agency while not holding a licence issued by the Commissioner for Labour of the Ministry of Manpower.
