A nine-year old girl watched a trailer for a horror film at 8pm one night on local television and could not sleep for some nights after that.
Some of her friends also had the same anxieties after seeing the trailer.
So the girl, called Renee, complained to her MP, Mr Christopher de Souza (Holland-Bukit Timah GRC) who raised the matter in Parliament. He wanted to know what measures are in place to ensure trailers for horror or violent movies are not screened on TV before 10 pm.
Indeed, TV broadcasters must show care and sensitivity when showing trailers or other advertisements, replied Ms Sim Ann, the senior parliamentary secretary for the Ministry of Communications and Information.
