Ng Boon Gay charged at court this morning

Ya these are the key questions I wondering. I think maybe Gay can sue them back?

Thanks scroobal this is an eye opener. Lets just say its only $5k per day it can also be very jialat for Gay as he is only a civil servant not minister right?

Getting justice in Singapore is not cheap. (Guess, its the same everywhere) A friend of mine wanted to sue a a surgeon from a goverment hospital for a botched up operation. He approached a litigator (not SC) who specialises in medical cases, from a top legal firm. The quoted charge was 5K just to open a file, i.e. talk to the lawyer. Once the lawyer agrees to carry on, the charges start. This friend did not have any disposable assets so he went to a small, one man outfit. Long story short, the case was settled out of court for 5% of what he asked for. His lawyer was pressurised from the other side, represented by a top legal firm that represented both the doctor and the hospital, to recommend accepting this or risk delaying the case with more paperwork and thus more expenses. I'm sure if he used the big boys, he would have got at least 50%.

Yes, you are right. The sad part is that legal fees are so high that 90% of society will not be able to afford decent representation.

The problem started to become acute about 20 years ago when corporate and civil legal work began to trend upwards that even average lawyers started to move toward this area. When they do take up criminal work, the fee follow the corporate / civil work. To compound the issue, the govt has kept law intact tight to make sure their family and friends are kept happy. The same with medicine. Now desperate, go recruit FT doctors from Philippines. One of the first from the Philippines was aksed to go after patient died.

The man in the street suffers. I feel sorry for someone who is either innocent or not as culpable.

I was quite surprised that Ng as the former CID chief and knowledeable in this area did not secure SC Sant Singh who is the best in criminal defence. I suspect his fees are just too high. Tan Chee Meng is well regarded but not a criminal specialist.

This report is from Yahoo News:

Ex-CNB chief Ng Boon Gay charged with corruption in sex scandal

.Former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) director Ng Boon Gay was charged on Tuesday morning with four counts of sex-related corruption.

Ng was accused of corruptly obtaining sexual gratification from a female IT executive, Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, by assisting to further the business interests of her then employers Oracle Corporation Singapore and Hitachi Data Systems in dealings with CNB.

His sexual trysts -- all in the form of fellatio -- with Sue allegedly occurred on four different occasions between June and December last year.

No specific locations were cited, but according to the charge sheets, the first alleged encounter took place between June and July last year, and the second between last October and November when Sue was a sales manager of Hitachi. The third and fourth incidents allegedly happened in December when Sue was a senior sales manager of Oracle.

The second ex-top civil servant in Singapore to face similar charges in the past week, Ng, 46, who was in a striped light blue long-sleeved shirt and black pants, pleaded not guilty to all the charges. He posted bail at $10,000.

Ng's lawyers, Tan Chee Meng and Melanie Ho, obtained an adjournment to seek clarification from prosecutors on how the alleged acts resulted in advancing the two companies' business interests. Tan also wanted to know what the interests referred to in the charges were exactly.

"Personal indiscretions aside, Boon Gay firmly believes he is not a corrupt officer," Tan was quoted in Bloomberg as saying.

Ng's wife, who accompanied Ng on Tuesday morning, also voiced her support for him in a statement, saying she never doubted his professional integrity.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) took Ng, a local government merit scholar, into custody late last year to assist in its investigations into his alleged personal misconduct. He was suspended from his post and has since been on indefinite leave from the CNB.

Ng's charges come in the aftermath of last Wednesday, when former commissioner to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Peter Lim was charged with 10 counts of corruption relating to sexual favours obtained from three women.

If convicted, per charge, Ng faces a maximum fine of $100,000 or up to five years of imprisonment or both. He will next appear in court on 26 June.

Oh really?
What about his marital integrity?

So what did the IT executive named Cecilia give Ah Gay the BJs for?
Because his dick tasted particularly good?

Come down from your moral high horse.

Even the President of USA accepted BJ.

The truth is that to women, a dick from a man of power always tastes good. BJ is very good for a woman's health if she swallows.

His wife quite presentable

We should sit back and look at it in the context of the huge numbers of immigrants from PRC, India, and before that Indonesia.
The Pinoys are no better but the rich Pinoys (except for a few like Gokongwei) mostly stay in the US of A.

What Peter and Ng has done pales in comparison to what many of these immigrants had done in their own country before bringing their dirty monies to sillipore.
Even LKY defended Suharto when he was charged and coincidentally the late Liem Sioe Liong is known to be "close" to Suharto.

In so called corrupt free Sillipore , you come from overseas with suitcases of your dirty monies and you are hailed as a foreign talent whilst Silliporeans are being charged even for using office stationaries for personal purpose (CSJ).

What's so great about been bred to be slaves of dirty foreigners with their dirty monies.

You are a moron for making this statement.
The President of USA got a BJ from a white house intern in his place of work, the oval office.
That's the problem, not the fact that a man got a BJ from a woman.

And what I'm mocking now is what the wife is saying to "support him" and the fact he claims that he is not corrupt,
i,e. the BJ was not given in exchage for something else.
Not the fact that a man got a BJ from a woman.

so when are they going to charge the women? or is this another woman's charter nonsense???

Charge for UNNATURAL SEX....this one & the other one, BLOW, BLOW, BLOW, Blowing to the wind, in carparks, Indoor stadium, in?? aka FELLATIO.. blow once for a test, blow twice for a refreshes, blow again for a contract..?? who knows!

Where does the wind BLOWS?? money no enough, sex no enough...so? pay them not enough? never gave them enough sex? what is enough!??

We will be very sure that that whoever in charge will have a good meal, & the most?, just slap the 'good doggies' on the rumps & place them somewhere out of sight & later resurrect them.

Why only oral?

Never go in huh?

A more important question to ask actually is: did she swallow?

:D:D:D:D:D:D

i dun know about senior counsel....but recently i have spoken to lawyers....i went to a lawyer like Edmund Pereira and was quoted $25K to take up my case vs a 'unknown' lawyer who only quoted $10K.

I think Senior Counsel fees would depend on the case but should expect to be very expensive.

Also if Gay is found not guilty what will happen? Resinstate back old job? Legal fees all govt pay?

From what I know, SCs charge a minimum of 1.5k per hr. A decent lawyer from a big law firm usually charges between 600-800 per hr. Some lawyers charge you
5k for everyday they are in court for trial.

Even when acquitted, your lawyer fees is your own biz.

My apologies for the wrong intel. Was told NBG won't be going to court. Now that it is, more juicy stuff akan datang?

They felt that the charges were "very general in nature" and will be writing to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for more details.

Mr Tan asked for the case to be adjourned as he wanted the prosecution to clarify how Ng's alleged offences had helped the two companies in their business interests, and what these interests were.

His lawyers suck. Basically, they themselves are admitted he did it
