It is pretty clear that the old guards do not think the younger leaders are ready to take over. The fact that there is no DPM to be appointed from the next generation in the next cabinet reshuffle and DPM Teo mentioned that it is good to have seasoned ( I think he meant experienced ) ministers to support the next generation PM is clear consensus among the old guards that the 4G leader are not ready for the big stage. They still need to go through the baptism of fire to prove their mettle.

And I don't disagree. It will be laughable to have Kee Chiu or Ong Lai sworn in as the PM in the next GE. At least not now... give them 5 to 8 years in policymaking assignments and grassroots consultation work to prove themselves and garner the ground support.
