Newborn baby girl found abandoned near Sixth Ave

A baby girl with her umbilical cord still attached was found abandoned outside a terrace house just off Sixth Avenue on Friday night.

Police said they received a call at about 9.20pm requesting for assistance at the home. The case has been classified the case as Abandonment of a Child and investigations are ongoing.

A middle-aged woman who lives at the house told The Straits Times that it was her Indonesian maid who found the baby when she was taking out the trash. The baby was wrapped in a towel and left at her gate. "I don't know why the baby was abandoned there," said the woman, who declined to be named.

Neighbours said they saw more than 10 uniformed policeman outside the house on Friday night. A next-door neighbour, Mrs Selvarajah, 72, said she was woken up by the police at 11pm and asked if she had seen anybody carrying a baby outside her house.

There are childless couples out there who are all too willing to adopt such babies. This is a case for such couples to come forward and take over the responsibility of raising a kid. At this point, the baby doesn't know who the biological parents are and the adoptee parents could raise her as their own.

All is fine and dandy until the kid needs a blood transfusion or organ transplant from the parents... then oops!

I think maybe is others who thought that living baby in sixth ave the folks richer so can taket care of their baby. In reality the people tere are more kiam siap than hdb heartlanders.

I doubt it had anything to do with money. Rich folks are more self-conscious about that 'face' thing, and no one wants to raise a bastard born out of wedlock.

A maid would prefer to discard the baby and keep her job at her Master's Sixth Ave residence.

I think the catholic church runs a halfway house for these single moms. They r given food n shelter till the baby is born n than the baby goes up for adoption. Tat way the baby gets a new life n the mother can get on with her life. That woman should have just went there. But trailer park trash will leave the baby in the bin. Tat woman should be barred from breeding.

In the past. Was told tat babies were left in front of CHIJ. Like in ang mor movies. Now they r left in the bin..
