new york

feel like going to see see...:p

any good? thks.

From what I hear, it sucks now - too clean. They cleaned up the city since the nineties and it has become too wholesome to be fun. During the eighties, the best part of NYC was 42nd Street - they called it the capital of Capitalism - you could buy anything!! Especially illegal stuff. Now it is just a big city with tons of people each one going about their jobs. If I had the money and them time, I'd go to Central or South America.

Cheers!

You are right, they cleaned it up. 42nd st no more sleaze, no more sex shops etc.

The Big Apple is still one of those cities that people will cover once in their lifestyle. City big so need to plan properly.
1. Stay near time square
2. Take the bus tour
3. Take the boat tour
4. One musical
5. Try the food which is pretty good and lots of variety including the street food.
6. Sample the Chinese deli style shops
7. Visit one of the big department stores
8. Walk WalL stree and Battery Park
9. Walk Canal St (Chinatown)
10. Walk Central Park
12. Watch a sporting event or Television studio programme.

3 days is all that is needed. As some one suggested, not in summer, better in early winter or late winter.

i still rememeber the story of them wanting to build some mosque on the site but it was scrapped after some protests.

Also after the recent hurricane or storm i wonder if everything is back to 100% normal.

it was well-intended, but very poorly timed. he will re-submit his proposal again, at some later time.

3 weeks later after sandy, power is back and many homes which have been out of power for over 2 weeks are back on. long island was hard hit, and so was the nj shore. my colleague who lived in long beach lost everything. luckily he escaped with his wife and life after ignoring the evac order. water level reached the neck at his home. his in laws were a few homes away, and they too escaped at the last minute. we put him in an apartment in brooklyn. wallet, company laptop and mobiles were all lost.

Who's the idiot that's trying to build a mosque at that sensitive spot? How in the hell is that well intended? Building a mosque on the site of the world trade centre?

I hear the the sales of generators have really gone up. Ppl don't trust the electricity grid in the US anymore. Probably starting to become like india with frequent black outs.

he's a well known muslim advocate. he wants the site to include muslim presence so it doesn't become an anti-muslim shrine.

generators require fuel. the problem was exacerbated by folks driving out of the way to get fuel. lines were long, and the half-tank rule was in place. it's over now, and life seems to be crawling back to normal. the subways too, were pumped dry, and service is back.
