PETALING JAYA: It is a force within the police force, with powers to raid police stations and conduct random tests to catch crooked cops.
Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (Jabatan Integriti dan Pematuhan Standard), or JIPS, is a new branch set up with powers to act against personnel found to be negligent or slacking in their duties.
Its first director Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Zubaidah Md Ismail warned that no officers would be spared from being investigated and randomly checked by JIPS.
"We need to renew our integrity through checks and balances.
"Some in the force will not like it but it is time that we take a look at ourselves and change what needs to be changed," she told The Star.
