They have two wheels that can get drivers from one place to another with no effort, and they are taking Europe by storm. They are electric-powered bicycles, which are being built with the help of the multinational firm Daimler Benz. The bikes, which cost as much as $5,000, only help cyclists pedal if they want them to, but their motors can also effortlessly push up drivers to 45 kilometres per hour. Al Jazeera's Nick Spicer reports from Berlin.

If this takes off in Singapore, no doubt the gahman will impose COE for every bike sold.

Park connectors will transform overnight into motor highways! We cannot have that!

Fabian Cancellara used a bike with a hidden electric motor to win Paris-Roubaix a couple of years ago. The drug testers checked his urine but not his bicycle.

Some of the electric bike has motor and batteries really well concealed and hard to tell apart from normal bicycle. The government will encourage and abate reckless motorist to knock down cyclists in order to scare off people who are thinking of using electric bicycles.

This government do not believe in technology or mechanisations.
Ours is a cheap labour government.
They rather you employ cheap labour to carry people on sedan chair.

Fucking german rip off. More horsepower give power. Now go back to human slave power and call it valuable

i dunno what the fuss is all about.
In beijing, there are numerous electric bikes. small enough to park in bicycle parking space.

It is just a report. They, the Berliners, did not kick up a fuss about it.
I am sure very soon the cheap Chinese bike will flood their market and Mr Bike Owner will have to close shop.

Probably funded by carbon credit fraud which is funded by EU debt and the fathers of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ain't that a fucking beaut?

will never happen in sgp.

bikers will be mowed down by drivers in sg when they have the chance.

besides it is too hot to cycle in sg.

Agree. We have example of ex-CEO of our public transport demonstrated that. LOL

The video is convincing. You can see that his cadence is not in line with the distance he made. The hand movement was quite bizarre. The hill climb he did not even stand.

if most people cycle to work. we can have less cars and not so crowded MRT too. less carbon emit for this tiny red dot.
i mean why not? if u r those need to wear uniform to work with locker room and bathing facilities. ride there, bath and change to work. knock off, change and ride home. exercise at the same time.
i remember knowing one Briton cycle to work at British Council and cycle back. He brought extra clothing though.

Besides the dodgy video going around YouTube which does not really prove anything, do you really have any other hard evidence?

Much better looking death trap than the china made ones seen on the streets now!
