衞生防護中心調查一宗兒童感染甲型流感嚴重個案，涉及過往健康良好的17歲少年，自前日起出現發燒、咳嗽、流鼻水及頭痛。昨日前往瑪嘉烈醫院急症室求醫並入院接受診治，今日被轉往該院兒科深切治療部接受進一步治療。
病人的呼吸道樣本經化驗後，證實對甲型流感（H3）病毒呈陽性反應。臨床診斷為甲型流感併發休克。病人現時情況嚴重。
初步調查顯示，病人未有接種今季季節性流感疫苗，潛伏期內沒有外遊。病人的家居接觸者至今沒有出現病徵。衞生防護中心正繼續調查。
發言人說，最新監測數據顯示，本地季節性流感的整體活躍程度在過去數周逐漸上升，預計冬季流感季節快將來臨。6個月或以上的人士如仍未接種季節性流感疫苗，特別是兒童、長者和長期病患者，應盡早接種，以加強對甲型及乙型流感的保護，應對冬季流感季節。
