oh come on, don't anyone realize that the 'robots' in the 1st post are merely Human actors attempting to mimic the stiff like motions of robots? That video is from China after all, & all knows what it is really capable of..........
So don't get your hopes too high or be conned into investing in such. We Humanity are still decades if not centuries yet to produce a Human-like robot. Non Human-like Washing machines & toy dogs exists. The only Human like looking are silicone dolls are produced, which are heavy, & at the end, only dolls & not robots....
It is NOT impossible to create a Human like robot, with FULL functions of a Human, but there will be several hurdles to overcome. In brief:-
1. Miniaturization of body infrastructure.
Memory chips, motors & electrical cables are still far too large which takes up much space within a Human like robot. Thus, it will need to miniaturized, which is possible & never to go the way that IBM did, when they laffed that a computer can be miniaturized to a desk top tool, & saw to their embarrassment that today, even a mere watch is capable of computer functions.
The answer to miniaturization may lays within the nanosphere of of how Human cells works - already recently, scientists had discovered there exists cellular matter that exists & functions the way a motor works...there lays possibilities to achieving Human like robots, IF morally needed...
2. Weight
Most current day robots uses stainless steel, for longevity as such will not rust easily. However, such are heavy, & thus lighter materials such as titanium which is a lighter & longer lasting material, would have to be used. Or better steel - find better metal & metal alloys thru material science research..
3. Power supply.
Current robots will need a huge amount of power supply to function, & thus most are still attached to cables. Even current rechargeable batteries are still too huge to fit into a robot to make it life like, let alone the weight.
There are many more issues to overcome, but if such life like robots are necessary, hurdles can be overcome, & it lays with further funding of education & international collaboration in peacetime, which should it be successful, would entail much profits & opportunities to be earned as a free market is based upon needs, as well as funds from the huge maintenance contracts which would be necessary....
