As you have probably heard, NEL line between Dhoby Ghaut and Habourfront is down since this morning 5 am due to overhear cable snapped!
The dateline of 1400 hr came and gone and service have yet to resume. This is probably the longest downtime (if I remember correctly) ever!

Question is who is to blame, the train operator or the infrastructure provider (ie. SBS vs LTA)!

Saw Lui Tuck Yew poking his face around for the press ...

Is this the beginning of more cock-ups to come?

Singapore train system was designed for 3-4m population in respect to its loading capacities and travel frequencies.
Due to oversight in population policy, now almost 6m, the system and its accompanying intrastructure are heavily overloaded and immensely strained.
The exploding population is the main cause and it has caught PAP by suprise in many areas including housing and medical care just to name a few.
More screw-ups years ahead.

Who to blame?
That Saw piak piak lor.
But she already resign liao, so now Lui Tuck Yew has to face the music alone.

The NEL costed taxpayers a whopping $4.6 billion to build and opened only less than 9 years ago, so soon already have breakdown problems. Something is seriously wrong.

Although this line is run by SBS transit and not SMRT, they behave sama sama. Looks like this is not only a technical issue, but a systematic failure in their operational structure and maintenance. In short, the people running it is not up to mark. The train problem is enough to keep the transport minister busy. Looks like govt has to second him to be full-time MRT train minister and re-apppoint another tranport minister. :)

Wire(s) broke?, strung too hard or workers overstrung? due to overworked oe what?:p

.

I blame it on the PAP.. There are just too many Foreigners in our country and this has also played a major part in our present public transport woes.. The Authorities can do many repair works inside the train tunnels but it will be back to square one again if there's another major breakdown in the comin future.. The solution to it all.. Kick out 70% of these FTs and their families back to their native countries..!!!

Someone claiming sabotage. I agree if you go look 10-15 years back at the tender documents, compare the as build plans versus the proposed plans and check the actual installed infrastructure as well do sampling of the materials to see if we kenna cheated.:D They may need to clawback the amount paid out that went to the meimeis back in PRC and the KTVs and nightclubs

nowadays things are build/manufacture not to last long , on purpose.
so proper maintenance is very important.
things designed to breakdown after certain years of use and manufacturer expect owner
to detect and replace it before it finally give way.
any way of making money for the manufacturer.

Built-in life span began in USA in 1960s, when it was realized that if you build a fridge that you can pass down to your great granddaugther as an heirloom, you would pretty much be out of a business. Soviet Union built fridges rock. You can chop a person up, put him in it for a week with no power, and he still does not smell from rotting.
There is calculated built-in life span (a small chip that will be out of production lasting 3 years) and there are
the fail maths masturbation imagined life span that will fail in the most unexpected time in the most unexpected and disastrous way. Lesson in product life cycle for the slaves of consumerism driven by MLM. That is what FMCG means.

All these loose talks of possible "Sabotage" is just a way to divert public attention from the real culprits and buy time ... hopeful, the public will forget the incident after sometime!

"The cables are "supposed to be very strong" and a preliminary study showed that they were in good condition and did not show signs of corrosion," said Mr Wong.

My questions
1. Have you not heard of metal fatigue or manufacturing defects?
2. I am surprised that you can tell so much from the "preliminary study" yet you can't tell whether the snapped ends look like a natural snap, sawed, sheared or pinched (as in using a wire cutter in the case of sabotage)?

So what is the real purpose of throwing up the word "sabotage" at such an early stage of "Visual Inspection" ... when the actual investigation has not even started!

Maybe, it is even an "Act of God" ... Let's move on!

Told you I GOD (GOOD):D systematic failure!

they may as well say it is the sabotage by the terrorist, or by spiderman.
if it really is a sabotage, then who could have the capability to do that other than the SMRT staff?

Now say after searching 23km no abnormalities found. Ok lor, everything in lala all find lor. So it means after tonite and the cable fixed, should see no more problem lor. So go on your sabotage theory lor. If it keeps happening for the next 3 weeks in regular frequency, so either the MRT system has serious security breaches or the system design and construction was faulty and shockingly, the clowns who carry the name of experts could not detect them. Damned relaxed. Like I said, you can talk cock about everything fine, if it is a design and construction miss, short of showing endless videos of MRT trainings running with fake mannequin dummies with smiley faces on board on the STATE propaganda news and claiming that Singaporeans and foreigners like walking instead of taking tricks, something has got to give.

I was thinking that we should hold SBS Transit CEO to accountability and ask him to explain his reasons for suspecting sabotage.

If indeed there are valid reasons, then my questions are:-
1. Why didn't they sealed off the area immediately and called in the police to do a through investigation?
2. By going ahead with repair and operating the line, are they not compromising and/or destroying vital evidence?
3. Worse still, if he is just speculating (speaking off the cuff during the press conference), don't he think he is creating unnecessary alarms for commuters?
4. Is he trying to "Ta chi" the problem?

Which else is the case, a precise statement from SBS Transit is appreciated ... Is it a mechanical failure or a sabotage?

I suspect the sabotage came from a mole planted inside SMRT by some anti-government or anti-SMRT group.
If not, how do you explain the frequent breakdowns of our WORLD CLASS SMRT transport system during the past few months?
Until this mole is apprehended, we can expect more breakdowns of our FIRST CLASS SMRT trains to happen.
