Whether dead or alive, Singaporeans are still not willing to donate their organs.

Kidney, heart and liver transplant numbers have remained low for the past 10 years, while the number of living donors has seen only modest growth.

This, despite legislative changes being made over the years to enlarge the donor pool.

If you need a liver, the wait is around one to two years. If you need a kidney, the wait is a whopping nine to 10 years.

The common reasons people are being taken off the waiting list? Too old, too sick or dead.

Of course. If hospitals want to make money doing transplants, you cannot expect people to donate their organs for free. It is really simple. Bureaucrats have no common sense.

This wait list only applies to lowly peasants. If you are gay Loong or one of the Familee or KwaLee, your wait time is 9-10 hours. If you are a rich FT billionaire from Indon, US, China, etc. your wait time is 9-10 days. If you are PAP Minister, Perm Sec. etc, your wait time is 9-10 weeks. If you are a rich medical tourist, your wait time is 9-10 months. If you are a peasant, your wait time is 9-10 years.

Sorry to disappoint you. My guess is all of them MIW already opted out of HOTA.

Only peasants are automatically inclusive, in an inclusive society for peasant. Those exclusive never included in anything that spells 'SHARE' or 'DONATE'.

The Human Organ Transplant Act is one of the sensible pieces of legislation anywhere in the World. It was legislated in 1987 and only exempted Muslims on religious grounds. In 2008, the Act was amended to include all Muslims, nearly 19 years later and when Muslims and their families found that illness is not selective by any measure.

2 Thing that the govt did right. It acted without having to wait for the leading nations to legislate and secondly it did not wait as many expected for the Muslims to agree. It showed courage and leadership. One of the few instances where we all should acknowledge.

I personally know of Muslim staff whose husband needed a transplant and his sister agreed to be the donor as she was type matched. At that time, Muslims have to find their own willing donors. She however withdraw and it was not to be. It was truly sad.
