Nearly one million flee approaching typhoon Morakot in China

Authorities in China have evacuated nearly one million people from the country's southeast coast, where Typhoon Morakot is expected to make landfall this evening.

Xinhua news agency says that over 470 thousand residents of the coastal province of Zhejiang have been moved.

In neighbouring Fujian province, more than 480,000 people have been evacuated.

Chinese authorities have also called tens of thousands of ships in to port as the storm closes in, bringing torrential rain and heavy wind.

A number of expressways in the region have also been closed as a precaution.

Parts of Fujian have already reported 30 centimetres of rain from early yesterday until this morning.

In Taiwan, one person was killed and at least 29 are missing after Morakot lashed the island.

Troops have been mobilised to rescue tens of thousands of residents trapped in the island's worst flooding in 50 years.

the size of the typhoon aka hurricane is so HUGE

where to flee?

when the centre of typhoon pass taiwan, the edge was touching japan in the north and philipine in the south.

it take two hours flying to go from taiwan to japan.

meaning radius about singapore to bangkok.

RUN LOR.

if 10 million PRC come to stay in singapore, our HDB pigeon hole will collapse like that hotel in taiwan
