（联合早报网讯）涉嫌在国家法院外掌掴余澎杉（Amos Yee）的男子今天上午承认一项蓄意伤人罪名，法官判他罪名成立。

由于通译员需要时间将被告梁锦华（49岁，自雇人士）一页长的华文求情翻译给法官过目，法官因此将案件展至下午2时30分下判。

案情显示，梁锦华从事冷气和电子工程生意。他是在16岁少年余澎杉将视频放上网后，开始注意到少年。梁锦华反复看了视频后，认为余澎杉对建国总理李光耀不敬，于是在余澎杉面控后，就一直留意他的案件进展。

其实，梁锦华在余澎杉前两次出庭时就打算掌掴他，但梁锦华抑制了自己。当他知道余澎杉再度违反保释条件时，他非常地愤怒，决定“教训”这个少年。

案情透露，梁锦华知道余澎杉每天都要到勿洛警署报到，原本他打算在警署外掌掴余澎杉，但因为媒体不在场，梁锦华知道他“教训”余澎杉的这一幕无法公诸于世，于是决定作罢。

梁锦华没有代表律师，以华文书写了长达一页的求情书。他在求情时表示做错了，愿意为自己的错误道歉，并承诺不会再掌掴余澎杉。但梁锦华也说，余澎杉的行为让他担心，也使他犯下这样的错，让他“莫名其妙地被牵连”。

梁锦华表示，他看到国父被辱骂，就好像自己的亲人被辱骂。既然余澎杉“已经坏到连长辈、父母、警方、法官、社会都不怕”，他想到只有这一巴掌“才可能造成他心里恐惧感，也可能压制到他，使他了解什么是处世之道。”

控方促请法官判他坐牢两周。根据法律，伤人罪名一旦成立，可被判坐牢长达两年，或罚款高达5000元，或两者兼施。（联合早报记者张嫥芯）

This proves his remorse is not sincere at all. When a person apologizes and then turns around to blame the victim as the cause of his wrongful action, you know it's a fuck up apology from a fuck up person.

You either admit you're wrong and apologize or if you think it's the victim's fault, then don't apologize. Why be a coward and want the best of both worlds ? Want to still blame the victim but at the same time seek leniency?

That wasn't an apology per se... that was the mitigation plea statement, or at least the gist of it. A delicately crafted balance of remorse and self-justification.
