Some crimes are consider heavier (with more urgency) than the rest, for instance a lady exposing her breast was charged immediately but the Naked couple @Holland V are yet to be charged and they are currently out on bail.
Why the delay?
More than three weeks after a Caucasian man and a Singaporean woman were arrested for strolling around Holland Village totally nude, no charges had been filed against them yet.
Police said investigations are still ongoing.
The naked pair stunned drinkers and diners when they strolled hand-in-hand up and down Lorong Mambong at 11pm on January 24.
They were nabbed one hour later near North Buona Vista Road, but were later released on bail.
The incident sparked off a flurry of postings online and even became inspiration for a new Ikea advertisement.
Under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act, anyone who appears nude in a public place can be fined up to S$2,000 or jailed up to three months, or both.
VS
ONE of two women who had exposed her breasts in a KTV room of a nightclub was fined $1,000 on Friday.
Dinh Thi Diem Truong, 23, who is on social visit, admitted to committing the obscene act at Hollywood Nite Club at Eu Tong Sen Street on Wednesday.
A magistrate's court heard that a party of officers went to the entertainment outlet that evening to check when one of them entered a KTV room and saw Diem Truong and another woman inside with their breasts exposed.
He arrested them.
The case of the other woman, Nguyen Manh Khuong, 26, a housewife and a permanent resident, was adjourned to March 13 for her lawyer, Mr David Ng, to make representations.
Diem Truong could have been jailed for up to three months or fined or jailed and fined for the obscene act.
Double Standard?
