Famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau is said to have had a brush with something horrific in a deepwater dive into Lake Tahoe in the mid-1970s. “The world isn’t ready for what I've seen down there,” he said as he emerged, shaking in fear. Cousteau never released any further information, other than a cryptic line "it was the most horrific thing I’ve ever seen", adding to the mystery and legend.

What did Jacques Cousteau see? An extraterrestrial alien underwater spacecraft? A prehistoric aquatic dinosaur similar to the Loch Ness monster? Or thousands of dead human bodies in suspended animation, perfectly preserved by the cold waters from decomposition? Or something even worse than all of these? We'll never know.
