Whilst the source of your news article is not exactly impartial, it does raise some interesting points. My main issue with Islam is that it expects the secular world to assimilate to its belief and teachings and not the other way around. Examples include:
1) Widespread introduction of Halal food
2) Wearing of the Burka and Hijab in France
3) Introduction of Sharia Law, separate schools, madrasahs etc
When you try to integrate these concepts into a non islamic society, the likelihood is that it will raise concerns and perhaps resentment within the indigenous population. As David Cameron and Angela Merkel have quoted, "Multiculturalism has failed (in Europe)."
Separately, my main fear for Sinkie is that in 10 or 20 years time, it gets swallowed up by Malaysia and becomes an Islamic state or becomes more racially unstable as race relations deteriorate.
And btw our geographic location doesn't help much either.
