A man was left blind after car thieves splashed acid in his face. His eyeballs were corroded.

A man was left half blind after he was attacked and robbed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to a report in Lianhe Zaobao, the 31-year-old man was sending his girlfriend home after supper in the wee hours of the morning when he was attacked.

He had stopped his car after detecting a flat rear tyre. Just as the couple came out of the car to change the tyre, two men came out of nowhere and splashed acid on his face. While the man was blinded and in pain, his assailants drove away in his white Honda Civic.

Upon reaching the hospital, doctors found the man's left eye had been corroded by the acid and was rendered useless. His right eye has 50% vision left. Both his arms were also burned by the acid.

His girlfriend sustained light injuries on her arm.

The man suspects that the robbers had already intentionally punctured his tyre while he was having supper. They then followed his car and waited for the right time to act.

I really doubt so. Serious crimes against the innocents are taking place in Malaysia as the country is very large and therefore it is easy to get away with murder. The same in Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

Many similar crimes are not done by locals, many Indonesians enter the country illegally and these people also commit crime because they are jobless as they are illegal immigrants. Singaporeans who drives to Malaysia often will attest that their administration is riddled with corrupted civil servants, especially the police.

The mudland gahmen quite useless here. They should have done better town and kampong planning. When you have proper zoning, it is easier to patrol and safeguard your residents.

car thieves do not use acid. too cumbersome to handle.may even injure themselves plus damage the car.
this is a lovers tiff. acid poured on the face to destroy the person's face so that he does not get another lover. possibly by a jealous wife, husband/boyfriend to his gal or past girlfriend he cheated.

car thieves like to get the car with less hassle as possible. throwing acid in the middle of the road is not their style.

Ok... the picture is a lazy job... borrowed indeed, but the story is quite believable.

There has been an acid splasher terrorising the Klang Valley area. It is not clear if they robbed anything but it seems more like Jack the Ripper kinda criminal who harm for the sake of harming. It is not surprising the car thieves got inspiration and incorporate this tactic into their car robberies.

There is a great variety of tricks MY car robbers use these days, most of which involve attacking you unaware when you are about getting into your car, or when you just got out of your car, examples:
1) Splash acid - if the news is true
2) Fake gun point - which i personally experienced
3) Knife point
4) Whack you repeatedly with a metal rod
5) Scare you with a "HIV" needle - someone kanna this but tested HIV negative :-P

Hence if you come to Malaysia be prepared with a knife under your driver's seat. If someone try to do that to you, just grab your knife, stab him, and drive back to SG

Just be careful when driving to JB or other parts of M'sia..

Dont drive alone there.. Bring your buddies along as companion. For me, I would always brought at least 2 of my friends when driving there to top up petrol..

When eating at the road side stalls there, make sure you parked your car near the stall you are eating so that you can keep a lookout for your car..

Just convert our SGD at the moneychangers in Spore.. I would always do it in Spore. Dont change your money at the moneychangers in JB.. Bit risky if many cash are involved. Many cases of snatch theft reported in JB. You may never know if you are being watched by some crooks over there..
