If you can manage your barang and carry only a cabin baggage, Scoot is the best for locations within a 5-hour radius.

For Japan, I will not consider Scoot if I'm flying direct to Tokyo Narita. I tried Delta the last time, and for $550 per pax I get 1 full meal + 2 snack meals.
