A 24-year-old man was sent flying across a barrier while walking along the Causeway on Malaysia's side during heavy rain, after he was hit by a car that had skidded.

Footage of the freak accident has been shared online.

The Malaysia police said in a statement on Monday, Jan. 13 that the incident occurred on Sunday, Jan. 12 at about 5:40pm, The Star reported.

The driver of the white vehicle involved had lost control in the rain, skidded, hit a road divider, before crashing into the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a Malaysian, was walking from Singapore to Malaysia, the police added.

According to footage of the incident, the car was travelling in the opposite direction from Malaysia to Singapore and there was no physical barrier separating the vehicles from pedestrians on the road.

As a result of the impact, the man was thrown over a barrier separating the car lane and the motorcycle lane.

The man landed on the motorcycle lane.

He suffered serious injuries as a result, Malaysia authorities added.

The two men in the car are Singaporeans, aged 21 and 23, Malaysia police said.

One passenger in the car sustained an injury to his left arm, it was also reported.

The authorities there advised those driving during bad weather to exercise caution.

Investigations are ongoing.

Is it any wonder that insurers charge such high premiums for young drivers?

Told you all already is best to take mrt and avoid the road even as pedestrians. Best is stay at home.
Pap anyhow issue driving license and cause deaths one after another unnecessarily

If SG has more drivers, there will be more people wanting to buy cars, so there will be more $$$ flowing into the govt's coffers from the COE premiums which they control.

Once Singaporeans surrendered their car ownership, all these car crash and car burn will end.
Isn’t nicer to build parks on highway?

Aspiring car owners who can't actually afford cars, would love that, wouldn't they?

Nobody is born to own a vehicle also.
The enormous cost of buying and maintaining a private vehicle has only forced marginal car owners to give up driving. Judging by our congested roads, many motorists are still loathe to giving up their set of wheels. The govt cannot put a price on convenience; it all boils down to affordability.
